Logica Introduces Mobile MapWorks Plus

Logica announced its map based field solutions offering, Mobile MapWorks Plus, for the energy and utilities sector. This innovative approach to mobile computing addresses the many field requirements of energy and utility companies, including job creation, field design, estimating, material management, data collection, inspections, compliance tracking, and a myriad of other field computing needs. The map based field solution suite enables utilities to deliver mobile functionality normally associated with powerful office desktop systems.

Mobile MapWorks Plus provides an all-encompassing architecture and design, which is modular and highly flexible for the delivery of end-to-end field computing solutions. By increasing the amount and quality of data in the field, Mobile MapWorks Plus will allow utilities to process work more efficiently and reduce costs. This Logica offering eliminates the printing and distribution of maps and other large data sets. It also reduces redundant field and office data entry. Resource requirements for data entry and processing are also substantially reduced.

With leading technology from its solution partner MapFrame, Logica's Mobile MapWorks Plus provides a combination of processes and products that enable a utility to move their facility maps and GIS/CAD data to a mobile environment; where it is easily used to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance and repair activities, inspections, surveys, and field design. Mobile MapWorks Plus exploits the strengths of Logica and MapFrame to provide a unique and powerful technology solution for utilities.

"This strategic collaboration strengthens the mobile solutions that Logica provides to its energy and utility customers," said Jim Cypert, executive vice president, for Logica's energy & utilities division. "Mobile MapWorks Plus provides the infrastructure to support our customers' demands for systems that can remotely access large volumes of spatial data. The MapWorks Plus approach provides utilities the opportunity to enhance the value of their current GIS systems by easily extending that data to the field."

"The synergies created by combining MapFrame's mobile technology with Logica's Asset & Resource Management solutions and services will provide utilities innovative alternatives to utilizing their corporate maps and large data sets in the field," said Paul Wilson, Founder and CEO, MapFrame."
