Salamis wins OCA Challenge Award for its Safety Training Initiative
Sarah Glover, Salamis HSEQ Manager, was presented with the Award in front of more than 200 North East business people and influential industry figures at last week’s Awards ceremony at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels.
Described by the judges as a ‘new and refreshing approach to the traditional safety poster’, Salamis’ safety poster campaign was designed by the company’s Safety Engagement Team. The posters represented a radical departure from the usual on-site safety campaigns using stark, black and white imagery with strong messages.
The Challenge Awards acknowledge and reward the outstanding achievements and successes of associated OCA members of all sizes across the UK. Salamis won the award in the safety category against 90 other contracting companies .This follows Salamis’ winning last year’s OCA Challenge Award for Technology and Innovation, for its POLSR (Pressurised Online Sand Removal System).
Ian Nickerson, Salamis Chief Executive, said: “Considering that these industry awards are competed for not only by Salamis’ support services contractor competitors, but also by such global industry leaders as AMEC, Wood Group, KBR, Petrofac and Aker Kvaerner, this double win is no mean achievement and highlights Salamis’ continual focus on safety and innovation, arguably the two key drivers for our many blue chip clients.”
A member of the AP Moeller-Maersk group of companies, Salamis is a leading international services contractor with a proven track record in providing integrated, multi-disciplinary support services and maintenance solutions to international Blue Chip clients, principally in the energy, petrochemical, industrial, and utilities sectors. Salamis employs a total of 1300 staff.
Salamis’ expertise is available throughout the design, construction, maintenance and decommissioning phases of both onshore and offshore projects. Its strategic integrated support services include fabric maintenance and asset integrity, access solutions, architectural outfitting, environmental and cleaning services, NDT inspection, and fire and blast protection.
