Aker Yards to Build ROV Support Vessel for Geo ASA
Geo ASA and Aker Yards ASA have agreed to build an ROV Support Vessel, worth approximately NOK 370 million, to be delivered in May 2007.
The vessel is designed by Aker Yards, with a design called Aker ROV 06. It is designed and equipped for subsea operations, including operations in the Northern oceans. First-class sea-keeping and ice-going capabilities, and excellent station keeping performance have been main focus areas when designing this highly specialized vessel. Strong focus on safe and environmentally sound working operations, low fuel consumption and precautions complying with DNV's Clean Design requirements are other main characteristics of the design.
The vessel will be outfitted with specialized equipment as an ROV hangar with doors and ability to launch ROV on both sides, as well as through dedicated moon pool, a large crane, helideck, work moon pool and high standard, low noise level accommodation. The vessel will be delivered from Aker Yards, Søviknes.
