Norway's PSA Grants Drilling Consents to Ocean Vanguard & Maersk Gallant



The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted its consent to ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway AS for exploration drilling of well 15/9-22 using the Ocean Vanguard and drilling of well 9/4-5 using the Maersk Gallant.

The well 9/4-5, using the Maersk Gallant, is part of production licence 315 and is located approximately 180 km southwest of Stavanger.

The activity will commence early in September 2005 and is expected to last from 97-150 days, depending on potential discoveries of hydrocarbons.

Maersk Gallant is operated by Maersk Contractors Norge A/S. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in August 2002.

The well 15/9-22, using the Ocean Vanguard, is part of production license 241 and is located about 235 kilometers southwest of Stavanger. The water depth at the site is 107 meters.

Drilling will start in September or October 2005.

The activity is expected to last from 30-70 days, depending on potential discoveries of hydrocarbons.
