Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. has made a significant discovery in the deep waters offshore Nigeria. The discovery well, Bolia IX, was spudded in October in approximately 3,601 feet of water. Shell says the evaluation is in progress and initial volumetric estimates of the hydrocarbon in place will be confirmed shortly.
Snepco, the deep water arm of Shell Nigeria, is the operator of the Bolia IX well with a 55% stake, ExxonMobil owns 20% and AGIP and TotalFinaElf each own 12.5%.
