BP Says Skarv Appraisal Well Successful

BP's 6507/5-5 appraisal well located on its Skarv gas prospect reached its target depth of 3,950 meters last week. The well was drilled by Smedvig's semisubmersible, West Alfa.

Coring of the well has been successful and logging is currently being carried out. BP said the results so far are within expectations and a production test will be performed shortly.

BP is the operator of the field with a 30% interest. Other participants are the state's direct financial interest with 30%, Enterprise Oil with 25% and ExxonMobil with the remaining 15%.
