Niko Makes Another Discovery on its D6 Block Offshore India

Niko Resources says that The P1-A well, the first well in the newly acquired 3D seismic area in Block D6 offshore India, is currently drilling. The D6-E1 well has completed drilling and resulted in another discovery. A total of 15 consecutive successful exploration wells have now been drilled in the D6 Block.

The wells OS-4 and OS-5 wells have completed drilling and are currently being completed as gas wells. Both wells were drilled to the west of the platform towards the Cairn Gauri Field. Neither well encountered net pay in the oil zone which tested oil in previous wells. After tie-in, drilling on the OS-6 well will commence.

Development plans for the oil development wells will be submitted by the end of May with initial production rates of 2000-3000 barrels per day.

Niko has drilled the NSA-8 well to the Northeast of the Bheema discovery. The well is currently being completed and tied into the Bheema gas plant with production to commence in June 2005.

The drilling rig is on the relief well location and rigging up. The well is expected to spud prior to the end of May 2005.
