ANP to Tender 1,151 Blocks in Brazil's 7th Licensing Round

Brazil's national hydrocarbon industry regulator ANP will tender 1,151 blocks in the seventh licensing round scheduled for October, an ANP spokesperson told BNamericas.

These include 1,134 offshore blocks in 14 sedimentary basins and 17 onshore mature fields.

The blocks were approved by the national energy policy council (CNPE), which met Wednesday in capital Brasília. ANP's proposal was fully accepted by the council and full details of the blocks should be published by the end of the week, the spokesperson said.

In 2004, ANP tendered 913 blocks in 12 basins in the sixth exploration licensing round. Overall 154 exploration licenses were awarded to 19 companies.
