Aker Yards Receives More Orders for AHTS Vessels
Aker Yards will deliver the third vessel of type UT-712 L Multifunctional, Anchor/Handling/Tug/Supply Service Vessel to Farstad Supply AS in Ålesund, Norway. In addition to the contract that was signed by Brevik Construction and Farstad Supply in January 2005 an optional agreement for two similar vessels was agreed.
The agreement for this third UT-712 L with a total value of approx. NOK 250 million has now been made effective. The vessel will be delivered in September 2006.
Aker Yards has previously built 13 vessels for Farstad Shipping and its subsidiaries. In addition these three UT-712 L will now be delivered in April, July and September 2006.
The hull for the vessel will be built at Aker Braila in Romania and outfitted in Norway. The vessel has been designed by Rolls-Royce Marine, who will also be the main supplier of equipment for the project.
Aker Promar, a part of Aker Brattvaag AS, and DOF ASA has agreed to build an Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel worth approximately NOK 300 million.
Delivery from Aker Promar, is scheduled for September 2006. The vessel will be 80 meters long, and 18 meters wide.
The vessel will have the designation UT 722 L, designed by Rolls-Royce, which will also be a major supplier of equipment to the project.
Roy Reite, responsible for the Offshore & Specialized Vessels business area in Aker Yards ASA states in a comment: "This contract confirms the good relationship we have with DOF ASA".
