BP Ready to Spud Havsule Well
During the next few weeks the Saipem's semisubmersible, Scarabeo 5, is scheduled to spud the promising gas prone Havsule prospect in the More basin. BP was awarded operatorship of this license in the 16th license round which covers the blocks 6404/7,8,10 &11.
The water depth is 4,900 feet and will be the deepest water depth ever drilled in offshore Norway. The drilling operation is expected to take 70-80 days and does not include testing. Testing will be performed later if required. Logistics will be handled from Vestbase supply base and Kvernberget heliport in Kristiansund. This will be BP's third deep water well since the company opened the Norwegian Sea for deep water drilling in 1997 with the Luva gas discovery in license 218.
