Aker Yards to Build Multifunctional AHTS

Aker Yards ASA is to deliver a 1 off UT 712L Multifunctional Anchor Handling Tug Supply Service Vessel to Farstad Supply AS in Alesund, Norway. The value of the contract is approximately NOK 250 million.

Brevik Construction AS, a subsidiary of Aker Brevik, and Farstad Supply have further signed an agreement for optional 1 + 1 UT712L Vessels.

Lars Stärk, President of Aker Brevik is very pleased with this new contract: "We have won an important contract for Aker Yards and we are pleased that the market for building Anchor Handling Vessels is developing positively. Aker Yards has built 13 vessels to Farstad Shipping or its subsidiaries earlier, and two PSV's were orderd in December 2004. This new contract confirms our good relationship with Farstad Shipping " says Stärk.

The hull for the AHTS will be built at Aker Brevik's subsidiary in Romania, Aker Braila, and outfitted in Norway. The hull will arrive in Brevik in December this year, and the vessel is scheduled for delivery for April 2006. The vessel is designed by Rolls-Royce Marine, which will also be a major supplier of equipment to the project.
