Brazil Announces 4th Licensing Round

ANP announces the formal launch of Brazil's Fourth Licensing Round (Brazil Round 4) and to invite interested companies to participate in this business and investment opportunity in Brazil.

As a result of incentives adopted since the beginning of the ANP's licensing rounds, the barriers to new companies entering the sector have been progressively reduced. Brazil Round 4 will be no different: there will be blocks in ultra-deep waters where there is an immense technological challenge to be overcome, but there will also be blocks in mature onshore areas, for which conditions will be established that allow the participation of small and medium companies. The importance of large oil companies is undeniable, but it is thought that the smaller companies can help to create a dynamic, competitive and efficient environment for the petroleum industry in Brazil.

Brazil Round 4 offers 55 blocks in 19 sedimentary basins. These blocks were selected on the basis of suggestions received from the industry and on the existence of new non-exclusive (spec) data, acquired recently all over the country. These blocks are located in traditional areas such as the Campos, Santos and Espirito Santo basins, but also in basins in which blocks have never before been offered and that were specifically nominated by companies - this is the case for specific blocks in the Sao Luis and Pelotas Basins. Onshore blocks in little-known basins like Sao Francisco, Parnaiba and Solimoes complement the opportunities offered.
