Stena Dee Receives Acknowledgement of Compliance from PSA

On December 9, 2004, the mobile drilling rig Stena Dee received the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway's Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC).

The Stena Dee is a semi-submersible mobile drilling rig of the "Mitsubishi MD-602" type. It was commissioned in 1984 and is owned and operated by Stena Drilling Ltd in Aberdeen.

The rig has previously been in operation on the Norwegian shelf, but in recent years the rig has either been engaged on the British shelf or has been laid up.

The rig now has an extended assignment for Norsk Hydro to carry out production drilling on Troll.

During its consideration of the AoC application, the PSA has conducted audit activities in most of the technical disciplines on the rig.

The Stena Dee has been assessed in relation to relevant requirements in applicable regulations and relevant portions of Stena Drilling's management system for the type of activity that has been indicated for the rig.

This makes a total of 23 Acknowledgements of Compliance (AoC) issued so far.
