Seabulk Offshore Dubai Wins Safety Awards

Seabulk Offshore Dubai LLC, a unit of Seabulk International, Inc., won the inaugural Dubai International Maritime Award for Safety & Quality in Shipping and also received Special Commendation in the Education & Training category for its contributions to safety and quality of service. The awards, the first of their kind, covered five categories and were initiated to recognize top achievers and encourage excellence in the Middle East shipping industry. An independent panel chaired by the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization, Rear Admiral Efthimios Mitropoulos, selected the winners, who were introduced at a gala dinner in Dubai with over 500 guests in attendance from every major sector of the international maritime community.

In presenting the awards, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of the Dubai Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation, commented, "When we set up the Dubai Port Authority we decided our main priority would be to provide a premium service. These awards recognize the people who provide that service, and I believe it is important that they are supported."

Accepting the awards for Seabulk Offshore Dubai was Managing Director Bryn Jones, who stated, "These awards reflect the commitment to safety and quality of service that exist throughout the Seabulk Offshore family of companies. All accidents are preventable, and we train our people to proactively look for potential problems." The unit's Vessel & Personnel Incidents booklet, which details common safety errors and how to prevent them, was cited as a "highly commended contribution to Education and Training" and has been adopted by other companies in the region.
