TotalFinaElf Extends Contract with Kellogg Brown & Root
Kellogg Brown & Root has been awarded a one-year contract extension by TotalFinaElf Exploration UK PLC (TFE) for the provision of engineering and construction services to TFE's North Alwyn, Dunbar, MCP01 platforms and the St Fergus onshore gas terminal in the United Kingdom Continental Shelf. The extension was awarded to Production Services, a part of Kellogg Brown & Root's Operations & Maintenance group.
Originally awarded in 1994, the contract was secured in a competitive tender for a further two years in 1999 with an additional two, one-year extension options. This first year extension is valued at around £13 million with KBR supplying engineering design expertise, project management of modifications, offshore construction and support services such as planning and cost control. This follows the award of a maintenance and operations contract by TFE for the Alwyn area at the end of 2000. The current 185 strong crew working on the contract are based both offshore and onshore. A number of staff have been seconded to TFE offices in Aberdeen with the majority operating from KBR’s Wellheads base in the city.
Extending the contract allows TFE to finalize its strategy for the provision of engineering and construction services in the future and enables KBR to complete its input into significant projects currently undertaken as part of the contract.
Andrew Crawford, Production Services' Project Manager for the TFE work, said: "We are very pleased to have been awarded the extension to the contract. We look forward to continuing the relationship with TFE for which we have laid the foundations over recent years."
