Aker Yards to Build Specialized Offshore Vessel for Remoy

Aker Brattvaag, a company in the Aker Yards Group, has entered into a contract with Remøy Shipping AS for the building of a specialized offshore vessel of design Aker - 03R. The value of the newbuilding contract is approximately NOK 150 million.

The design has been developed in cooperation between Aker Brattvaag AS, Aker Yards Project AS and Skipsteknisk AS. Delivery from Søviknes Verft is scheduled for August 2005. The vessel will be 72.4 meters long, and 16.0 meters wide, and will have accomodation capacity for 36 persons.

The vessel is designed for world wide operations.

Remøy Shipping has at present a coastguard vessel under construction at Søviknes Verft for delivery in January 05. The seismic support vessel "Geco Scorpio" was delivered from Søviknes Verft in May 2000, and the platform supply vessel "Rem Stadt" was delivered from Brattvaag Skipsverft in 1996 to the same owner.

Roy Reite, responsible for the Offshore Service Vessels business area in Aker Yards ASA states in a comment: "This contracts confirms the good relationship we have with Remøy Shipping. We are proud that they are coming back to Aker Yards to build this fourth vessel".
