Honeywell to Provide Safety Systems to Dolphin Energy

Honeywell

JGC, the largest engineering contractor in Japan, has selected Honeywell to provide integrated control and safety systems for Dolphin Energy Limited, a joint venture of Total, Occidental Petroleum and Mubadala Development Company, which is wholly owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi. The Honeywell systems will automate two offshore gas production platforms in Qatar's North Gas Field and a large onshore gas processing plant in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. Honeywell expects to complete the project in late 2005.

Working with JGC, Honeywell will provide systems that control natural gas production and refining processes efficiently and effectively. In addition, the solution also automatically shuts down the processes when an emergency, such as a fire, is imminent. Components of this integrated system include Experion(TM) PKS, Honeywell's award-wining next-generation process automation system that unifies people with process, business and asset management; Shadow Plant(R), a software suite that can be used to evaluate decisions, check engineering designs, improve performance and train operations; and Honeywell process and emergency shutdown systems. Honeywell will develop the integrated system in Singapore.

JGC is an international engineering and construction company based in Yokohama, Japan, having multiple operating centers and executing large-scale projects worldwide.

Dolphin Energy Limited is the creator of the Dolphin Gas Project - a unique UAE strategic energy initiative whose mission is to produce, process and supply substantial quantities of natural gas from offshore Qatar to the United Arab Emirates in 2006.
