IADC Elects 2005 Officers

The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Board of Directors elected 2005 Officers at its Annual Meeting in New Orleans September 22nd. Edward D. Kautz, was elected 2005 IADC Chairman. Mr. Kautz is Vice President-US & International for Ensign Resource Service Group Inc. He was named to his current position in 2004. Since April 2001, he served as Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of CAZA Drilling Inc., a Division of Ensign. Ed joined CAZA as Managing Director of US operations for Ensign Resource.

Mr. Kautz began his career in the oil and gas contract-drilling industry in 1976 with Exeter Drilling Co. He spent the next five years working in the field, serving in every position from roughneck to rig manager through Exeter's engineer training program. For the next 18 months, Mr. Kautz worked as Exeter's equipment engineer, followed by an 18-month assignment as Rocky Mountain drilling manager. In 1983, Mr. Kautz was transferred to Oklahoma City as drilling manager, and was ultimately promoted to division manger. In late 1989, Mr Kautz was promoted to President of Exeter's Northern Division, based in the company's Denver headquarters. In 1991, Mr. Kautz was promoted to President of Exeter Drilling.

Mr. Kautz has been active in IADC since 1979, serving in a variety of volunteer assignments and on the Board of Directors. He was the 1996 Chairman of the IADC Land Division Steering Committee and served as Vice President of the IADC Land Division from 1996-98. Mr Kautz sat on the Association's Executive Committee from 1995-1997. He graduated from Colorado State University in 1976 with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Paul Bragg, President & CEO, Pride International Inc. was elected to the position of Vice Chairman and John Lindsay, Vice President, US Land Operations, Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Company will serve as Secretary-Treasurer. IADC President Lee Hunt and Senior Vice President-Government Affairs, Brian T. Petty were reelected. IADC Board of Directors also elected 3 Divisional Vice Presidents: Scott Gordon, Unit Drilling, Vice President-Land Division; Danny McNease, Rowan Companies, Vice President-Offshore Division and Ross Murphy, Apache Corporation, Vice President-Drilling Services. All terms begin January 1, 2005 and are for one year.
