Statoil Wins Three UK Licenses

Interests in three licenses covering a total of five blocks have been awarded to Statoil in Britain's 22nd offshore licensing round.

The group is very satisfied to have secured stakes in all the blocks for which it applied.

This acreage lies west of Shetland and on trend with license P1026, where Statoil acquired a 30 percent interest earlier in the year.

Operator ChevronTexaco drilled the Rosebank/Lochnagar well on behalf of the P1026 partners in July and August.

The new licenses embrace one covering blocks 213/22, 23 and 28, with the other two covering blocks 205/1 and 213/21 respectively.

Statoil has 30 percent of the first and second of these awards, with operator ChevronTexaco receiving 40 percent, OMV 20 percent and Dong 10 percent.

ChevronTexaco is also operator for block 213/21 with a 45 percent interest, while Statoil has received 35 percent in this license and Dong 20 percent.
