Noble Corporation has been named by the National Safety Council the first winner of the Robert W. Campbell Award.

This award was presented today by the National Safety Council Chairman of the Board, Jed Bullard, and ExxonMobil Senior Vice President, Edward G. Galante, to Noble Corporation Chairman and CEO, James C. Day, at the Opening Session of the National Safety Council's 92nd Annual Congress & Expo in New Orleans.

This new international award, co-sponsored by the National Safety Council and Exxon Mobil Corporation, recognizes companies that demonstrate leadership and excellence in business performance by integrating safety, health and the environment within their operations systems.

James C. Day, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, "It is a distinct honor to be selected as the winner of the inaugural Robert W. Campbell award from among such an outstanding group of companies. The National Safety Council and ExxonMobil are to be commended for their efforts to raise public awareness of those companies dedicated to providing a safe and environmentally friendly workplace. Noble's commitment to those critical areas of operation has long been inculcated into the Company's paradigms."

The Company's application, along with all other applicants seeking the award, was scrutinized by a panel of independent international reviewers in a rigorous assessment process. The Company was selected for the award based on a number of factors, including Noble's "outstanding management leadership, commitment, support, and participation in Safety, Health, Environmental- related activities" and its "superior management of key risk exposures through inspections, hazard identification, work control, job safety analysis, and change management".
