Northern Sun Begins Alberta Exploration Program

Northern Sun Exploration has commenced Phase 2 of its exploration and capital expenditure program on the Company's Kapawe'no and St. Albert properties in Alberta.

The Kapawe'no exploration program includes a 24 kilometre 2D seismic program over the Kapawe'no First Nation Reserve near Grouard, Alberta. The seismic program is underway and will be completed, processed and evaluated by the 1st week of October 2004. The Company's first gas test well will be drilled immediately on the property to a depth of 850 meters, targeting shallow gas prospects. Pending success of the first well and evaluation of the 2D seismic program, a second follow-up well is planned.

The St. Albert exploration program is scheduled to begin following the Kapawe'no program, with a test well to be drilled to a total depth of 1,150 meters, targeting light oil and a secondary shallow gas prospect. Pending the outcome of this well, the Company has identified a follow-up target. Each of the St. Albert locations were identified using the Company's Phase 1 3D seismic program shot earlier this year, augmented with purchased 3D trade seismic.

Northern Sun is an Alberta-based exploration company, currently exploring for oil and gas at its core areas of St. Albert and Grouard, and is pursuing other opportunities in Alberta and the North West Territories.
