Petrodril and its affiliate, India Hydrocarbons Ltd, have drawn up plans for exploration in partnership with suitable E&P companies under NELP. "Besides, Petrodril is also evaluating the petroleum potential of areas outside India and intends to participate, again in partnership, in the development of small to medium size oil and gas fields already discovered," says Sundeep Bhandari, CEO, Petrodril.
The company provides consultancy services in petroleum exploration, development and production including geological, geophysical, developmental, reservoir engineering and negotiations for Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs). Cairn Energy, Command Petroleum and Ampolex Oil Company, Australia and Videocon Group are some of Petrodril's clients.
The projects handled by Petrodril comprise:
Rava oilfield development (which currently produces over 50,000 barrels of oil per day and is the biggest field in the private/joint venture sector outside „hof the national oil companies like ONGC and Oil India Ltd);
On-land block RJ-ON-90/1 in Rajasthan (where so far as many as eight oil and gas fields have been discovered and are soon to be developed for commencing CB-OS/2 block offshore Gujarat (where four discoveries have been production); made, two of which are currently under commercial gas production at approximately 4.5 mm cubic meters per day); and,
Two offshore exploration blocks in the Krishna-Godavari Basin off the Andhra Pradesh coast, including a deepwater block (where so far four discoveries have been made and are awaiting appraisal).
Currently, Petrodril is involved in the appraisal, development and production activities for Cairn Energy in Gujarat offshore, Rajasthan onshore and Andhra offshore as well as in seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation by PGS.
"Private E&P companies in India are using the latest state-of-the-art technologies," Sundeep Bhandari points out. Prominent among these technologies are 3200-channel seismic data acquisition during 3-D seismic acquisition, multi-variate seismic data processing and interpretation, measurement-while-drilling (MWD), logging-while-drilling (LWD), extended-reach and horizontal drilling and multi-reservoir production completion of wells. "These technologies are also in vogue in other countries. We feel that our core strength gives us a very good possibility of success in oil and gas field development," Bhandari adds.
