Repsol-YPF Shows Success with Tridente Prospect
Repsol YPF has made two new discoveries in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Tarragona, near the Casablanca platform. The discovery wells, Necora-1 and Bocarte-1, have registered individual volumes of up to 5,000 barrels per day of excellent quality 47º gravity oil. These wells were drilled by Transocean Sedco Forex's semisubmersible, Actinia.
These two wells form part of the Tirdente Prospect, that will be completed by year-end with the drilling of a third well. After the third well has been completed, Repsol will evaluate production potential. Once development has been approved, Repsol will tie back the wells to the Casablanca platform some 7 miles away. Casablanca is currently producing 7,500 bopd from Chipiron, Casablanca, Rodaballo, Boqueron and Barracuda. Repsol YPF is the operator and has a 100% working interest.
