Deepwater Specialists Wins Bonga FPSO Commissioning Work

Deepwater Specialists Inc., a subsidiary of John Wood Group, has been contracted by Amec to provide commissioning services for Shell's Bonga floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, offshore Nigeria. The contract, which is valued at approximately $4 million, is DSI's first for work in Nigeria.

Under the contract, DSI will support Amec in verifying construction readiness, pre-commissioning, and dynamic commissioning of all systems to ensure compliance with engineering design criteria. The company's dynamic commissioning support includes assisting in testing the functionality and proving the integrity of all production, storage and offloading systems for the FPSO.

"We are extremely pleased to have been selected to supply commissioning support to the Bonga FPSO," stated Phillip Landry, president of DSI. "DSI commissioned Shell's Nakika and Brutus facilities in the Gulf of Mexico and we appreciate Amec's endorsement of DSI's commissioning expertise with the Bonga award."

The Bonga contract is DSI's first award since joining Wood Group and increases Wood Group's operational presence in West Africa.
