Tucker Commissions Advanced Cementing Unit in Trinidad

Tucker Energy Services

Tucker Energy Services has commissioned its first ABS Certified, Zone 2 rated cementing unit on the Global Santa Fe - Rig Constellation I. The unit is under a five-year contract working for BP - Trinidad and fully complies with their stringent requirements for cement mixing, rate, pressure and safety. Tucker Energy's Roger Packer quotes, "This state-of-the-art Cementing Unit is designed and configured similar to a proven model presently operating for bpTT on the Kapok Project offshore Trinidad."

The unit was designed and built by Tulsa Equipment Manufacturing (TEM(R)) a subsidiary of Varco International Inc., in record time utilizing twin Detroit Diesel Series 60, 600 bhp engines with Pyroban's latest ATEX complaint 3GP(TM) combined gas detection and safety shutdown system and SPM TWS-600S pumps. Rob Double of Pyroban is quoted as saying, "This unit is the safest unit operating in the Americas." The unit employs TEM(R)'s patented Continuous Automatic Mixing (CAM) recirculating mixing system along with CTES' ORION Data Acquisition system. Tucker Energy worked with TEM(R) engineers and manufacturing team to customize the unit to its own field proven specifications and produce an efficient, high-pressure, offshore cementing skid. John Power - General Manager TEM(R) states, "This cementer is an excellent example of the collaborative design process TEM employs. TEM provides the mixing technology and manufacturing know-how, blended with the operational experience from the customer, to produce a fit-for-purpose unit that meets or exceeds industry standards."
