QSERV Secures Contract With ExxonMobil

Qserv has been awarded a multi-million pound contract for up to six years for wireline services from ExxonMobil.

The well and pipeline service company is providing wireline services on the Alpha and Bravo platforms in the North Sea's Beryl field, as well as other ExxonMobil assets in the UKCS and Norwegian sectors. Qserv anticipates using up to 30 personnel on this contract for wireline operations.

Services being supplied include heavy-duty fishing, mono conductor, tubing caliper and punching, memory type slickline initiation and wireline equipment rental, along with management, maintenance and certification of ExxonMobil owned equipment.

Ciaran Dreelan, well services director at Qserv, said: "Through our investment in personnel, facilities equipment and good operating systems, we are able to address market demands and provide a safe, efficient and quality service for our clients. This is the first time that we have worked with ExxonMobil and we look forward to developing our relationship with them. We are confident of further developing our business in the mature North Sea market at a time when others are looking elsewhere, as we believe there is still a long future here."

Health, safety, quality and the environment are the main drivers in the Qserv business, as Ciaran explains: "Exceptional operational and safety performance are crucial to efficient and productive customer relations. Since our creation we have had zero lost time injuries and we seek to maintain this exceptional record. In our first year of business we gained a number of HSEQ achievements including QMS.ISO 9001-2000, EMS.ISO 14001 and SMS.OHSAS 18001 & SCC certification and this certainly sets us apart from our competitors."

Management of the contract is a key area for Qserv in delivering a quality service to ExxonMobil. Qserv's wireline department is headed up by Garry Michie, who is responsible for the operational team. Garry commented: "By ensuring we have a competent and motivated team with the right attitude towards safety and operational requirements, I am confident that we can meet and exceed ExxonMobil's expectations and continue to demonstrate that we are the market leader in the provision of wireline, well and pipeline services."

Qserv was founded in November 2001 and operates in the UKCS, Qatar, Norway, Denmark, Indonesia and in the last year has worked in 13 European and East European countries. It employs 120 staff from its ten-acre site on the Badentoy Industrial Estate in Portlethen, Aberdeen. Due to growing business and contract wins, an additional £5 million has been invested in wireline, coiled tubing and pumping equipment and facilities this year, in conjunction with the additional workshops being built on the Badentoy site.
