Saipem Limited Wins BP Decommissioning Contract in North Sea

Oilfield services firm Saipem Limited, a subsidiary of Saipem SpA, has been awarded a new decommissioning contract in the North Sea.

Located in the UK sector of the North Sea, the project involves the decommissioning of the topsides and jacket of BP plc’s Miller Platform.

“Saipem, through its subsidiary Saipem Limited based in the UK, is pleased to see further traction in the decommissioning market with the BP Miller EPRD Project,” Stefano Porcari, Saipem offshore business unit executive vice president, said.

“The award builds on our experience in delivering decommissioning projects successfully and safely over recent years,” he added.

Over the last decade, Saipem has performed a variety of major decommissioning projects, including the Frigg Field decommissioning and, more recently, the removal of the Ekofisk 2/4 S jacket and the Ekofisk 2/4 G bridge. Saipem Limited currently employs over 800 people.
