Engineering Company Cuts 74 Workers in Houston

Engineering and manufacturing company, Purolator Advanced Filtration Group (PAFG), is cutting its Houston workforce, according to a notice sent to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).

In the notice, Purolator Engineered Filtration Products (EFP), a member of Purolator Advanced Filtration Group, stated it is closing its Houston facility and subsequently laying off 74 workers.

“After significant deliberation with respect to the sustained market challenges we face, we have decided to close [the Houston facility] and consolidate manufacturing operations into our Shelby, North Carolina facility,” PAFG president Robb Junker said in the notice, adding that it was a “difficult decision.”

A limited number of sales support positions will be transferred to a sister company’s location in Houston. The layoffs will take effect Dec. 2.

Purolator EFP offers gas filtration systems for several markets, including oil and gas, and has locations in Houston; Shelby, North Carolina; St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada; and Dalton, Georgia.
