Sparrows Group Partners with SapuraKencana in the Asian Pacific
A subsidiary of Sparrows Group Offshore Services Pte Ltd is teaming up with SapuraKencana Technology Sdn Bhd to increase its presence in the Asian Pacific.
The partnership between Sparrows’ offshore entity with SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad will be a collaboration in Malaysia’s offshore and onshore crane services market. The work will include manufacturing, supply, operations, maintenance and the overhaul of existing offshore and onshore cranes.
Sparrows Group CEO Stewart Mitchell said in a news statement that SepuraKencana's diverse range of services will complement Sparrows’ work.
Both companies have also ventured into large-scale European projects this year.
In March, Sparrows Group landed a five-year contract with Statoil’s Mariner development in the North Sea to deliver cranes and maintenance services. The contract could be extended to nine years under certain options.
Sparrows Group has aligned itself with several companies in recent months to expand its global footprint. In addition to the Asian Pacific news, Sparrows Group earlier this month signed a deal with SPIE Oil & Gas Services to work in Africa.
“This strategic alliance will strongly benefit our customers willing to rely on a seamless local support with top international standards, to increase safety and integrity, extend lifetime and make the most out of their assets. Our matching geographical footprints mean we look forward to extending our services to a more global scale shortly,” Yves Compañy, SPIE’s managing director, said in a statement.
For its part, SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad secured a $126 million contract for the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline services offshore Dardanelles Strait in the Sea of Marmara. TANAP, a natural gas pipeline project linking Europe and Asia, supplies natural gas from the Southern Gas Corridor project in Azerbaijan through Georgia and Turkey and onwards to Europe.
