Rosneft Makes Discovery at Wild Orchid Gas Condensate Field Off Vietnam
Russia's Rosneft reported Thursday that its Vietnamese subsidiary Rosneft Vietnam B.V. has made a discovery at the PLDD well in the Wild Orchid gas condensate field in Block 06.1, located in the Nam Con Son basin offshore Vietnam.
The field operator commenced drilling at the PLDD-1X exploration well in March using Japan Drilling Co.'s HAKURYU-5 (mid-water semisub), with drilling completed in the second quarter of 2016.
"Wild Orchid gas condensate field was discovered on the Block 06.1. Volume of reserves and commercial attractiveness of the discovery are to be confirmed," Rosneft said in the press release.
The firm added that there is a potential synergy for the gas condensate project due to its proximity to the Lan Tay production platform which is operated by Rosneft Vietnam.
Earlier, the field operator said it plans to shoot broadband 3D seismic on Block 06.1 later this year to boost ongoing production recovery and explore potential in deeper prospects.
