Militants Attack Eni Oil Crew, Kill 2
Unnamed militants attacked a boat transporting Eni workers in the Niger Delta region June 29, killing two, an Eni spokesperson told Rigzone Monday.
The boat was on its way to a well location on a “routine operation” in the Nembe area when the incident occurred, said the spokesperson. Three members of the team managed to escape, reaching a nearby flow station, although two others were reported missing.
Two days after the attack the bodies of the missing workers were found.
“Investigations with Security Agencies were immediately undertaken and are still ongoing,” said the company spokesperson.
Oil and gas instalations and facilities within the Niger Delta have been the focus of several attacks over the last few months from the Niger Delta Avengers group.
The NDA claimed responsibility for a number of attacks in the region over the weekend on its Twitter page, which has since been suspended by the social media site.
