Wood Group Secures 5-Year Services Deal With BP Offshore Azerbaijan

Wood Group has secured a new five year contract with BP-operated projects, valued at $500 million, to deliver engineering, procurement and construction management services to eight facilities, offshore Azerbaijan.

Effective immediately, the contract has the option of two, two year extensions. The deal, which will create approximately 200 new positions, will see the company support the Chirag, Central Azeri, East Azeri, West Azeri, Deep Water Gunashli and Shah Deniz platforms. Wood Group Kenny is already providing subsea engineering services to these platforms under a multi-million dollar contract announced in October 2015, which also includes support of BP's existing subsea infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico, UK and Norwegian continental shelves.

David Buchan, Wood Group PSN's eastern region managing director, said in a company statement:

"Wood Group has a 40 year history of working with BP across their global assets and this new contract award is reflective of the strong relationship we maintain with this key client, built on collaboration and continued excellence and assurance in our service delivery.

"Our focus is on leveraging our knowledge across this portfolio of assets and our expertise in engineering, procurement and construction, to ensure their efficient, effective and safe productivity.

"We are committed to hiring and developing local personnel, building partnerships and supporting supply chain companies in the communities where we operate. This is reflected on this contract where more than 50 per cent of the workforce will be from the region with a focus on increasing local employment opportunities further, as the contract progresses."
