Alvopetrol Drills Dry Well in Block 170 in Brazil's Reconcavo Basin

Canada's Alvopetro Energy Ltd. reported Thursday that it drilled a dry well at the 170(B1) well in onshore Block 170, located in the Reconcavo Basin in Bahia, Brazil.

"The 170(B1) well reached a total measured depth of 4,879 feet (1,487 meters) and did not discover commercial quantities of hydrocarbons," Alvopetrol said in a press release.

Following the drilling operations, the company plans to abandon the 170(B1) well after satisfying its current phase exploration work commitment with Brazil's upstream regulator Agencia Nacional do Petroleo, Gas Natural e Biocombustiveis(ANP).

Alvopetrol is planning to drill the 256(A1) well, which is a multi-zone prospect in Block 256 and its largest natural gas exploration prospect soon. Block 256 is located near existing gas transmission infrastructure and the drilling of 256(A1) will fulfil its Block 256 exploratory phase commitments with the ANP.
