Eni Starts 3 Oil, Gas Treatment Plants at Zubair, Iraq
Eni announced today that three new facilities for oil, gas and water treatment have been brought online in the Zubair field, Southern Iraq, which will contribute to an increase in production.
The plants have increased oil and gas treatment capacity to around 650,000 barrels per day, according to a company statement, and have a water injection capacity of about 300,000 bpd. Zubair, which is located near Bassora in southern Iraq, is operated by Eni on behalf of the Iraqi state company South Oil Company (SOC). The current production of the field is around 360,000 bpd, although this figure is targeted to rise to 850,000 bpd over the next few years.
Eni has been present in Iraq since 2009 and its equity production in 2015 was around 40,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
