Cenergy CEO Still Eyes Growth Despite Industry Downturn

Rigzone: Cenergy is celebrating 20 years in business this year. Reflecting back on those 20 years, what would you say is your greatest accomplishment?

Ressler: It’s really been a journey. It’s like a dream. I never set out with a business plan and thought ‘I’m going to rule the world.’ My goal was to be able to work from home and have some spending money. Things just worked out. I call it being ‘cenergized.’ The thing that makes me super happy about it is we found jobs for so many people. We’ve fed so many families. We’ve allowed so many people to progress in their career. We’ve had several internal employees be hired directly by our clients and now they’ve become our clients … Nothing makes me happier than to see all of that. The job that I have is making other people successful. There’s nothing better than that.

Rigzone: What can we expect from Cenergy in 2016?

Ressler: I plan on acquiring several companies for further diversification. I’m working with someone now and we’re looking at [possibly acquiring] a couple of IT companies. My goal is to acquire no less than four companies before the end of the year.

Rigzone: Where do you see the company in the next 20 years?

Ressler: (laughing) Hopefully, I’ll be reading fondly in the Wall Street Journal about Cenergy from my retirement – wherever I’ll be. I can see nothing but growth in Cenergy’s future. Some of our competitors are billion dollar companies and I expect to exceed that within the next five years, especially with aggressive acquisitions and aggressive internal growth as the oilfield bounces back.
