Genel Energy Rings Board Changes
Iraqi Kurdistan oil producer Genel Energy announced Tuesday that Sir Graham Hearne plans to retire from the board at the company's 2016 annual general meeting. Meanwhile, the company has also appointed Simon Lockett as an independent non-executive director with immediate effect.
Lockett has spent the past nine years as CEO of Premier Oil, a UK-based independent exploration and production company. He previously held various senior roles within Premier, including that of operations director.
Genel Energy Chairman Tony Hayward commented in a company statement:
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Graham for his valuable contribution in the establishment of Genel Energy as a respected London-listed company. It has been a great pleasure working with him, and on behalf of the board I would like to express my thanks for his support during his time with the company.
"I am also delighted to welcome Simon to the Genel Energy board. Having worked at the highest levels of the oil sector for over 20 years, Simon has a deep understanding of the industry and will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the board."
