Wood Mac Buys Infield Systems to Boost Upstream Offering

Data services and consultancy group Wood Mackenzie is to buy oil and gas business intelligence firm Infield Systems Limited, according to a statement from Wood Mac-parent Verisk Analytics published late Friday.

The addition of Infield – which provides business intelligence, analysis and research to the oil, gas and associated marine industries – will enhance Wood Mac's upstream and supply chain capabilities, Verisk said.

Wood Mackenzie CEO Stephen Halliday commented in a company statement:

"This small, tuck-in acquisition of Infield Systems will help transform our analysis of the upstream supply chain and complement our modeling capabilities. Our clients will benefit from a more robust and integrated offering made possible by combining the analytical strength and proprietary databases of Infield Systems and Wood Mackenzie.
"For more than 25 years, Infield Systems has provided an extensive range of services to assist its clients with critical business and investment decisions. Infield Systems, its people, its relationships across the industry, and its comprehensive data are widely recognized as a leading source of information, research, and analysis for the energy sector; and they will be a valuable addition to Wood Mackenzie and Verisk Analytics."

Infield Systems Managing Director Julian Whitfield added:

"We're delighted to be joining Wood Mackenzie. The integration of Wood Mackenzie and Infield Systems will provide a more competitive and complete service for both Infield Systems and Wood Mackenzie clients."
