Energean Appoints New General Manager, Commissions Egypt Survey
Energean Oil & Gas announced Thursday that it has appointed Dr. Medhat Tarakhan as its new country general manager in Egypt.
Tarakhan is a reservoir characterization specialist, and an AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists) certified professional petroleum geologist, who has spent more than 30 years in the exploration and oilfield development sector. He has previously worked for BP, Repsol, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Madison PetroGas, Kuwait Energy, PGNiG and Rayton in projects that led to over 58 commercial oil discoveries in the Middle East and Africa.
Energean has also recruited AGS-Afro to conduct a 2D seismic survey in the West Kom Ombo concession area, in the context of the company’s new $6 million investment program in Egypt. The survey will start in December and around 250 miles of 2D seismic will be acquired ahead of the drilling of two new wells which have been planned for the summer of 2016. Energean Oil & Gas is the operator and holds a 60 percent interest in the West Kom Ombo exploration and exploitation license.
