McDermott Bags EPCI Contract for 4 Wellhead Jackets from Qatar Petroleum
McDermott International, Inc. reported Thursday that it has bagged a sizeable brownfield project from Qatar Petroleum for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of four wellhead jackets offshore Qatar.
The company is scheduled to install two jackets in the Bul-Hanine field offshore east of Doha by December 2016, while the remaining two are due for installation by July 2017. The total weight of all four structures is 3,495 tons.
“McDermott’s integrated EPCI capabilities are critical to these offshore projects ... This award is another example of collaboration with our customers to meet their critical production and project requirements. The award is expected to be executed with McDermott’s internal resources and backed by our proven track record of designing, building and installing offshore and subsea solution,” Tom Mackie, McDermott’s vice president, Middle East said in the press release.
McDermott's team in Dubai will carry out detailed design engineering and procurement for the project, while the jackets will be fabricated at the firm's Dubai-based facility in the United Arab Emirates. The company will deploy vessels from its global fleet to undertake the installation work.
