Transerv: Warro Field May Be Bigger Than First Thought
Transerv Energy announced Thursday that the Warro field onshore Australia may be bigger than previously thought, after a 574 foot gas interval was encountered at the Warro-5ST well.
The well remains in gas at its total depth of 14,507 feet, which reinforces the field’s potential of 8-10 trillion cubic feet of gas in place and suggests further resources could be present, according to Transerv. Warro-5ST reached total depth late Wednesday. The well will now be suspended in preparation for stimulation and testing.
Transerv Executive Director Stephen Keenihan commented in a company statement:
“The results are very strong and increase the economic potential of Warro significantly. As well as the presence of thick, gas-filled sands in the southern part of the field, the fact that the well was still in gas at total depth, pointing to additional, deeper, reserve potential, shows the potential for the Warro field to be even larger than previously thought. While stimulation and testing needs to be carried out to determine the full commercial significance of the well, these results are highly promising.”
Transerv stated that the Warro-6 well, located approximately two miles northwest of Warro-5ST, should commence drilling in the first week of October.
