Swire Pacific Offshore Appoints Ron Mathison as MD to Replace Neil Glenn

Swire Pacific Offshore Operations Pte Ltd. (SPO), a Singapore-based offshore service vessel provider to the oil and gas industry, announced Tuesday that Ron Mathison has been appointed as the new managing director (MD) Monday, succeeding Neil Glenn, who will be moving on to his new appointment as the general manager, Europe for Cathay Pacific Airways (CPA).

Mathison, a director of John Swire & Sons (S.E. Asia) Pte Ltd., since Aug. 1, embarked on his career with John Swire & Sons Limited (Swire) when he joined CPA in 1984 and has more than 30 years of experience within various divisions of the Swire Group.

Prior to his new appointment in SPO, Mathison was the Group MD of James Finlay Ltd. in the U.K. for seven years. The new SPO MD was director of Cargo in CPA between 2004 and 2008 and held the post of director and general manager of Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programs Ltd. earlier, in addition to a number of other senior management positions in the airline in various countries around the world.

Meanwhile, SPO’s Finance Director, Nigel Gribble, has also stepped down from his post to assume the role of chief financial officer in Altus Oil & Gas Services, a fully owned subsidiary of SPO in August. He was succeeded by Amyon Chaffey, who was with CPA in Hong Kong, and was the finance director of The China Navigation Co. Ltd. prior to that.

In addition to the changes to the top management, SPO has also re-designated Operations Director Ian Offland as Safety and Marine Assurance director, while new additions to his team include Christopher Bowden as Global Head of Marine Manning, Training and Competence Assurance, Grant Michels as Competence Assurance Manager and Stuart Mooney as Operations Manager.
