Oil & Gas UK Launches North Sea Task Force
Oil & Gas UK announced Wednesday the launch of a new North Sea task force, which aims to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the UK’s oil and gas industry.
The Efficiency Task Force (ETF) will be responsible for “driving improvement, making the sector more competitive and supporting the drive to maximize economic recovery from the UK continental shelf”, according to Oil & Gas UK. In order to try and achieve its goals, the ETF will aim to deliver behavioural change, standardization initiatives and company collaboration.
Led by John Pearson, who is the group president Northern Europe and CIS for AMEC Foster Wheeler and the Oil & Gas UK co-chairman, the ETF will be supported by a dedicated resource from Oil & Gas UK and its industry members.
Commenting on the launch of the ETF, the task force’s leader John Pearson said in an organization statement:
“I’m delighted to announce the official launch of the Efficiency Task Force. It will encourage cooperation and focus on initiatives that add real value for our sector, helping the UK to compete globally. Tackling efficiency has been at the forefront of industry minds for some time but has become more acute and urgent as the value of our end product has more than halved in the last year. We now need to step up, increase the effort and resource we’re putting in and get the job done as a united industry…Only if industry works together can we achieve the major transformation in efficiency we need to see.”
