OMV Appoints New Executive Board Member
OMV announced Thursday that it has appointed Johann Pleininger as its executive board member responsible for upstream, effective September 1, 2015.
Pleininger will succeed Jaap Huijskes, who decided to resign before the end of his mandate. The outgoing Huijskes leaves “on the best of terms”, according to a company statement. Pleininger joined OMV back in 1977 and from 2007 to 2013 he was the executive board member responsible for E&P at OMV Petrom in Bucharest.
Commenting on the new appointment, Peter Oswald, OMV chairman of the supervisory board, said:
"I want to thank Jaap Huijskes for making a key contribution to OMV´s internationalization. With Johann Pleininger we have appointed one of OMV´s most experienced and successful managers. His exceptional achievements at OMV Petrom in particular deserve to be highlighted. The OMV supervisory board is convinced that he will successfully lead the upstream business, the decisive growth driver for OMV, and that he will steer us through the challenging times we now face. This is also why finding a rapid solution was a particular priority."
