NPD Grants Statoil Drilling Permit in North Sea
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) announced Thursday that it has granted Statoil Petroleum AS a drilling permit for well 25/11-28, located in the central part of the North Sea in production license 169.
Wildcat well 25/11-28, which will be drilled from Songa Trym (mid-water semisub), is the fifteenth well to be drilled in the license. Statoil is the operator of license 169 with an ownership interest of 57 percent. The other licensees are Petoro AS with 30 percent and ExxonMobil & Production Norway AS with 13 percent.
The drilling permit awarded by the NPD is contingent upon the operator having secured all other permits and consents required by other authorities before the drilling starts.
