Anadarko High Bidder on 26 Tracts in GOM Lease Sale 180
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation announced that it was the apparent high bidder on 26 tracts in the Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 180.
The company submitted apparent high bids representing a total investment of about $5.5 million. All of the bids were for a 100 percent working interest. The 26 tracts cover more than 133,000 acres in deep water, predominately around Port Isabel and Alaminos Canyon.
"Anadarko is already a significant player in the Gulf of Mexico," said Anadarko President and Chief Operating Officer John N. Seitz. "Our strategy in this lease sale was to establish a block of acreage in the area known as the Alamo mini-basin, where we already have proprietary 3-D seismic coverage and where we see exploration potential." Of the 26 tracts, 22 are located in the Alamo mini-basin. Anadarko currently holds a total of 330 leases in the Gulf with 69 located in deep water.
