Dragon Oil Begins 3D Seismic Survey in Cheleken Block

Dragon reports that the Ocean Bottom Cable marine 3D seismic survey has commenced in the Cheleken Block offshore Turkmenistan. Dragon is using Ocean Bottom Cable technology to acquire high quality 3D seismic data to a depth of at least 5 km below the sea floor.

PetroAlliance Services Company Limited were awarded the contract for the provision of the marine 3D seismic acquisition services and it will cover the entire area of the LAM and Zhdanov fields, (652 square kilometers). PetroAlliance is using 10 major seismic vessels and 16 zodiacs to conduct the marine 3D seismic survey. Shooting over the LAM field is in progress and is due to be completed in August. The 3D seismic survey will then continue to the Zhdanov field.

The seismic data is being processed onboard the vessels in order to ensure good data quality. Final processing will be carried out in the UK by CGG, (Compagnie Generale de Geophysique).

Chairman Hussain M. Sultan commented:

'We are pleased that PetroAlliance have now commenced the 3D seismic survey in our Cheleken LAM field after recently mobilizing their vessels. We look forward to the completion of the survey in accordance with the schedule.

As I have previously stated, while our new drilling has been in the LAM field, a 3D seismic survey of our entire block, including Zhdanov, will allow us the opportunity to further best assess where our drilling should be located.'
