Trapoil Drills Dry Well in UK North Sea
Junior energy firm Trapoil announced Thursday that it has come up dry in the Niobe exploration well, located in License P.1889 in the UK North Sea.
The well was drilled using the ENSCO 100 (350’ ILC) to its target depth of 5,005 feet and, although it penetrated good quality sands, no significant hydrocarbons were found. The Niobe well will now be plugged and abandoned.
Suncor Energy is the operator of License P.1889 with a 49.5 percent interest. Norwegian Energy Company UK holds a 22.5 percent interest and Trapoil holds a 28 percent interest.
