PetroVietnam Chairman Meets With KazTransGas General Director
PetroVietnam announced Monday that its chairman Nguyen Xuan Son had a meeting with KazTransGas General Director Kairat Sharipbayev last week, in order to strengthen oil and gas industry relations between Vietnam and Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, Sharipbayev pledged to expand cooperation between the oil and gas groups of Kazakhstan and the Vietnamese company. PetroVietnam’s Nguyen Xuan Son was equally open to bolstering ties between the regions and proposed that the two groups should be ready to discuss and agree on the basic principles of cooperation, so that an agreement could be submitted to the two governments sooner rather than later.
The latest meeting between PetroVietnam and KazTransGas comes before Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung’s impending business trip to Kazakhstan. In terms of oil and gas reserves, Kazakhstan ranks ninth and eleventh in the world respectively, according to a PetroVietnam press release.
