Searcher Seismic Starts Atlantic Margin Survey
Geophysical survey firm Searcher Seismic announced Tuesday that it has begun the acquisition of 2D seismic data covering a region of the Atlantic Margin offshore western Ireland.
The Echidna regional broadband 2D seismic survey will comprise of 3,350 square miles of high-quality, long-offset broadband 2D seismic data.
Jan Gunnar Opsal, Norway Country Manager for Searcher Seismic, said the survey includes well-ties to over 30 exploration wells and recent drilling results have indicated considerable oil potential in the area.
"The rift systems associated with these basins are among the most interesting exploration targets in the North Atlantic and we are confident the Echidna survey will provide a solid foundation for evaluation of the area," Opsal said in a company statement.
Searcher said that fast-track data of selected priority lines will be available in time for evaluation ahead of the upcoming Atlantic Margin bid round.
