GCC to Offer ADIC's Data Management Software

Advanced Digital Information Corporation, leading supplier of Intelligent Storage(TM) solutions to the open systems market, and Compagnie Generale de Geophysique have signed a global agreement that allows CGG to resell ADIC's StorNext(R) data management software and Scalar tape libraries and to install and manage systems based on ADIC products in customer sites on a worldwide basis. The agreement allows CGG to deliver on-site collaborative workflow and policy-based data management products and services to organizations in the oil and gas industry.

In 2002, CGG chose ADIC software and hardware to provide management of hundreds of terabytes of data in CGG's own seismic processing centers. "CGG integrated ADIC's StorNext data management software and libraries into our processing architecture," said Guillaume Cambois, Executive Vice President of Processing Reservoir & Services, CGG. "It allowed us to build a flexible system linking heterogeneous workstations and large clusters of parallel Linux nodes. The end result was faster delivery of seismic information to our customers. We are pleased to now be able to offer our clients the same kind of capabilities to meet their local processing needs."

StorNext(R) is ADIC's policy-based data management software that provides an Information Life Cycle (ILM) foundation for organizations whose business-critical data must be accessed, protected, and retained appropriately as its value changes over time. ADIC Scalar tape libraries provide an intelligent family of scalable automated tape storage platforms for the protection and long-term retention of key digital assets.

CGG's Geocluster(TM) runs on parallel cluster computing power to process high-volume datasets through intensive workflows (e.g. Prestack Depth migration) and leverages the latest generation of PCs to address the growing need of geophysicists to have greater autonomy to run increasingly computer-intensive applications, involving the visualization of large data volumes and detailed graphic interpretation. Geocluster(TM) runs on major UNIX platforms as well as on economical Intel and AMD servers using the Linux operating system.
